Jesus is Gentle and Lowly in Heart

March 11, 2017

It’s important for everyone to discover how gentle and lowly in heart Jesus really is. For some, placing the Son of God in their personal church box, works only for so long. There’s a place of discovery where even John the Baptist, in his broken moment, sent his disciples to ask Jesus this question, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” (Matthew 11:3).  Tests and trials cause many to question the Lord’s goodness. Jesus confirmed everything John already knew, saying:

“Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.  And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me” (Matthew 11:4-6).

John the Baptist was a prophet who was blessed to witness everything prophets before him, hoped to see. Restoration and salvation for Israel was a passion for many of God’s servants and John was blessed to prepare the way for the Lord (verse. 10). His life came to a short end but confirmation of who Jesus is, gave him hope for his nation and reality that he did all God commanded him to do.

In a world where we see and hear so much death, terror and misery, sometimes it becomes hard to think there’s a God who cares. Those who don’t believe in God, continue to point out devastations in the world not realizing that He gives everyone a will. Corrupt nations both past and present, will reap from their actions.

Jesus went into cities called Chorazin and Bethsaida, He showed them miracles but they were full of pride and had a hard heart so much so they did not repent (verse. 20-24). The goodness and holiness of the Lord shows an individual their own sin and shortcomings. Personally, had I lived at the time in Galilee, I would have wept and followed Him. Those who don’t need God that way are corrupt in their souls.

He wants to share life with you in such a way He wants every individual to see and endure with His Son Jesus. There is hope in knowing Jesus overcame the world. He shows us the motive in His heart saying:

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30
