5 Amazing Facts about Angels

February 6, 2017
While many find angels to be a myth, the amazing truth is angels do exist. I’ve heard so many stories about visitations from angels and it is clear they work on behalf of those who call on God for help. Often, angels are working around the clock without your knowledge. In 2004, I had an amazing experience with an angel. This caused me to do my own personal study on amazing facts about angels.

         1. Angels work as guardians

  • After man left the Garden of Eden, “…He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the Garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.” Genesis 3:24

  • When the king of Syria sent a mighty army against Elisha, the word declares:

“And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. So when the Syrians came down to him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, and said, “Strike this people, I pray, with blindness.” And He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.” 2 Kings 6:15-18

    2. Angels are messengers of God

  • While Daniel was waiting for an answer from God the angel stood before him and said,

“Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come.” Daniel 10:14

  • One day, while serving in the temple, God sent the angel Gabriel to Zacharias:

“But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.  And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.  And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.  He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Luke 1:13-17

Then Gabriel was sent to a town called Nazareth saying,“Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.  And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” Luke 1:28-33

        3. Angels are Worshipers

  • After Jesus was born, God sent an Angel to announce His birth in Bethlehem. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2:13, 14

  • Isaiah said, “…I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said:“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
The whole earth is full of His glory!”  Isaiah 6:1-3

    4. Angels are Warriors

  • When Jerusalem was threatened by the Assyrian army king Hezekiah prayed and God answered. “And it came to pass on a certain night that the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses—all dead.” 2 Kings 19:35

5. Angels minister

  • After Jesus overcame the enemy, “…angels came and ministered to Him.” Matthew 4:11
